TSIM held its 38th annual meeting at the National Taiwan University Hospital International Convention Center in Taipei, December 6-7, hosted by Professor Ming-Shiang Wu, President TSIM. It was attended by approximately 8000 internal medicine physicians and trainees from Taiwan. Most sessions were in Chinese and covered a wide variety of topics. One session in English, honoring a former TSIM president, who had promoted global participation by TSIM, was chaired by President Wu and Professor Wang-Huei Sheng, Secretary General of TSIM. It featured keynote speakers from ISIM, Dr. Virginia Hood, President, and from ACP, Dr. Michael Tan, Treasurer of ACP. Doctor Tan addressed confusing diagnostics in infectious disease. Hood spoke on Kidney stones, bones and metabolic syndrome. In the stair wells outside the auditorium was an impressive display of approximately 400 posters, all in English, by trainees. There had also been an oral presentation competition of 20 selected posters. The winners will have their presentation submitted to MIRCIM.

The current and prior leaders of TSIM and University of Taipei met with ISIM and ACP guests at the Gala dinner and post symposium luncheon, providing an opportunity to discuss common issues affecting medicine practice in Taiwan and USA which included workforce issues, increasing stresses on physicians, as well as increasing pressures on and stresses to the comprehensive healthcare insurance system which has been so beneficial for the Taiwan people.

All were looking forward to the 38th WCIM in Taipei in November 12-15, 2026
