Basic Principles
Formation
The EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF INTERNAL MEDICINE was established in Basel on December 17, 1993. The registered office of the foundation is in Basel. It is entered in the Register of Commerce in the Canton of Basel-City. The founder is the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF INTERNAL MEDICINE (INTERNATIONALE GESELLSCHAFT FÜR INNERE MEDIZIN), an association in accordance with the Civil Code (ZGB) 52ff with headquarters in Basel. The official body responsible for supervising the foundation is the Foundation Supervisory Authority of the Federal Department of Home Affairs in Bern.
Purpose
The purpose of the foundation is essentially to support young physicians of both genders in countries in which the scientific standards of internal medicine have(s) not yet reached the level which is normal in (the) industrialized nations.
Organization
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation consists of at least two members. The INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF INTERNAL MEDICINE (ISIM) delegates ex officio its General Secretary to act as Chairman and its Treasurer to be member of the Board of Trustees. The Executive Committee of the founding organization may appoint further members of the Board of Trustees. The present membership of the Board of Trustees is as follows:

Auditing the Accounts
Dialog Treuhand AG, Bern, has been appointed to act as the auditor. It satisfies the statutory requirements to qualify as a foundation auditor.
